Optimistic Ostrich

I came in the door running at the mouth like a mad man

Mouth flapping, keyboard tapping but had no Bible in hand

People have feelings and needs, allow me to take my head out of the sand

Like a big flightless bird I’m sick and tired of feeling absurd

The Lord said stand with me, but again it was the world’s voice I heard

Come let’s take a walk and have a talk as intricate as a baseball pitcher’s balk

Let’s stop writing our faith on the sidewalk with chalk

Negative thoughts will no longer stalk

The rain has come and our slate is clean

The sun is shining and the grass is green

God’s love pulling at us like a tractor beam

The Bible always open at the seam

Like precious jewels let all of our actions gleam

I wrote this a couple months ago. It’s taken me this long to post it because I let fear stop me more than once. When I post poems about God or the Bible I do it from a place of faith and I’m talking about mustard seed size faith that I’m trying to grow. I’m well aware that most people don’t and won’t believe and it is not my intention to put my beliefs on anyone. That being said I will try to serve and praise my God in my own little way. No matter how feeble.

Thank you for your understanding. Be well.

By His strength.

Psalm 46:1-3

Isaiah 41:10
